assateague island is a fun place to go if you want to see some wild ponies, go for a bike ride, go for a barefoot beach run, do some yoga by the bay, climb a tree, sleep out on the beach under the stars, get your breath taken away by bayside sunsets, cook on a campfire, and watch the first sunrise of the year come up over the atlantic ocean.

appalling facts from the blm (bureau of land management).. Unstructured outdoor activity is down by half from the previous generation. Children in the USA average just 30 minutes a week of unregulated time outdoors; however, their weekly electronic media exposure is almost 45 hours a week. Visits to National Parks have been decreasing since 1987. The amount of outdoor, environmental...

I Like You (by Sandol Stoddard Warburg)
(this comes from a children’s book. i like it because of its simplicity, the way i think love should be.) I like you and I know why. I like you because you are a good person to like. I like you because when I tell you something special, you know it’s special And you remember it a long, long time. You say, “Remember when you told me something special?” And both of us...

health benefits of biking →
Just a sampling of the countless benefits of biking: Aerobic exercise [like bicycling] can improve self-esteem and have an antidepressant effect. An adult cyclist typically has a level of fitness equivalent to someone 10 years younger and a life expectancy two years above the average. Cyclists on average live two years longer than non-cyclists and take 15% fewer days off work through...

The 900 Gallon Diet: Meat, Portion Size and Water... →
for the meat eaters out there.. this is really interesting. apparently.. the appropriate size of a portion of meat is about that of a deck of cards the average american eats about 8 oz. (half a pound) of meat a day it takes about 1800 gallons of water to produce one pound of beef (thus it takes about 900 gallons of water to produce the average amount of meat consumed by americans each day)
